Good morning,
The Governor of Phetchaburi
President of Stamford International University
General Chair, YESIST12
Members of the IEEE board and committee
Participants, contestants, , sponsors, students and honored Guests
I am delighted to be here today, to open the first ever IEEE event in the Kingdom of Thailand. This is a unique conference aimed at bringing together researchers, scientists, leaders, and our very own Junior Einsteins from over 19 countries, not only to compete, but to share ideas in the area of software base on Digital
Technology
We are living in exciting times in which the world has become more connected than ever .
Unprecedentedly ,networking technologies have evolved at an impressive pace over the last decade,
it is important to recognize the role of ICT and software systems in supporting this boom through Big data /AI/Blockchain Technology/IOT /Cloud Computing /5G /Algorithms /Quantum Computer /Fiberoptic /Super semiconductor/Deep-Learning Machine /Robot/Sensoring Technology/ RFID/VR Virtual Reality /AR Augmented Reality and supporting ecosystem such as logistics systems, mapping software, data mining, embedded control systems, smart manufacturing , electronic document handling, and remote communications.
Ladies and gentlemen
Thailand is example , now Thailand is working to improve economic growth by shifting its economy from an industry-driven country to one that is driven by high-tech innovations. Innovation will continue to disrupt every industry
IT industry for 2019 and beyond predicting that by 2022, over 61% of the country GDP will be digitalized, with growth in every industry driven by digitally enhanced offerings, operations, and relationships, driving US$ 72 billion in IT-related spending from 2019 through 2022.
From 2018 to 2023 – with new tools/platforms, more developers, agile methods and lots of code reuse –
4 million new logical apps will be created in Thailand that called Digital Innovation Explosion
These demonstrate the way ICT and software systems are providing the underlying infrastructure and enabling capacity in many areas of the economy and community.
Technology has also transformed the way universities conduct their core activities, for example, through Web-based and online learning, e-science and grid computing, storage, management and mining of large information repositories in many fields.
The IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers) is the world’s largest technical professional organization for the advancement of technology. The IEEE, along with YESIST 12 (Youth Endeavors for Social Innovation using Sustainable Technology) is a show of talent of international students and young professionals that gives them the opportunity to showcase their ideas to solve social and humanitarian concerns and issues that affect the environment and the communities around them.
This two-day event is part of a vision of ASIST (Augmented Social Innovations through Science and Technology). This event integrates engineering education with society creating useful practical scalable products, devices and applications creating interest for entrepreneurs wanting to patent the product and introduce it into the market to deserving clients. The YESIST12 originated in the USA, initially as a “hackathon” on a humanitarian theme. Today, it has blossomed into a very healthy competition between countries, moving from the USA to Europe and now throughout Asia.
Stamford International University has done a great job by bringing participants from around 19 countries under one roof to demonstrate their passion and talent in the field of technology. The ideas and prototypes brought forward these two days would not only be an astonishing sight, but also a very intriguing experience.
I understand the importance of technology in facilitating specifications, designs and implementations of social and humanitarian innovations in the relevant fields. The philosophy of having both academics, students and industry partners rubbing shoulders with IEEE this weekend gives this event a unique and significant character. The way Stamford International University has collaborated with IEEE over the last year is exemplary and a tribute to the Chairs of the IEEE YESIST12
In saying so, I would like to once again thank both organizers, IEEE and Stamford International University for putting their hard work and efforts in making this possible. The products and the prototypes presented here at this event are truly a stunning collection ideas and ingenuity. After examining what the event has to offer, I am certain that you will have an exciting, stimulating and thought- provoking experience.
Once again, I invite all of you to this event and welcome you all to Thailand’s 1st ever IEEE YESIST 12. I would also encourage you to explore and discover amazing Thailand while you are here.
Thank you very much
